HG Announces 2026 Partner Promotions

HG Law (HG) is pleased to announce London’s Roger Nash and New York’s Maxim Rapoport have been elevated to Partner, effective January 1, 2026. These promotions recognize their technical expertise, dedication to clients, and embodiment of HG’s collaborative, results-driven culture.

About Roger Nash

Roger brings decades of in-house leadership experience to HG’s London office, having previously served as Head of Patents at British Telecom (BT), where he managed one of the U.K.’s largest patent departments. His background gives him a distinctive perspective on what clients actually need: work completed efficiently and without unnecessary complexity. Roger’s technical expertise spans communications-related technologies, including information security, distributed systems, artificial intelligence, network operation and design, and speech and video coding. His extensive experience in patent assertions, licensing (including SEPs), and litigation in both the U.K. and U.S. positions him to help clients navigate contentious proceedings, an area he is actively growing at HG through EPO opposition and appeals work as well as UPC litigation.

Roger excels at seeing patterns in mountains of data and building the big picture that guides both his team and clients through complex matters.He leads HG’s EPO opposition and appeals work and is growing its Unified Patent Court litigation capabilities. Deeply committed to mentoring junior attorneys, Roger works face-to-face with trainees daily, providing immediate feedback and creating a collaborative environment where there are no stupid questions. Roger received a BSc in Physics from the University of Bristol. He is qualified with the EPO, the UK IPO, and the UPC.  Roger is a member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys.

Maxim joined HG in 2017 and has become integral to the firm’s strategic approach to patent prosecution. His practice centers on aligning patent strategy with business objectives, bridging prosecution, licensing, and litigation considerations to build portfolios that deliver long-term value. Max’s clients span emerging startups to established enterprises across diverse technologies including AI, cellular and cable networking, medical devices, software, power systems, and engines. He excels at taking complex technical spaces and transforming them into coherent, scalable portfolio plans executed reliably at high volume without sacrificing quality.

What sets Max apart is his systems-engineering approach: he starts with each client’s short- and long-term business objectives, then designs patent strategies that evolve in lockstep with changing business needs. His technical background combined with years of high-stakes prosecution leadership, enables him to thread the needle between strong validity and claim scope that supports potential licensing needs. Max is equally committed to building HG’s next generation of talent through intensive mentorship and pioneering co-training approaches that help new team members contribute meaningfully within weeks and months. As Partner, he will continue leading strategic prosecution across multiple clients while strengthening HG’s talent pipeline and growing emerging technology clients, particularly in AI and adjacent fields. Max received a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.S.E. in Computer Science and Engineering, both from the University of Pennsylvania. He received his J.D. from Temple University.
