OVERVIEW
Joseph is a Technical Advisor with a background in computer science, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. He joined Haley Guiliano shortly after graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles with a major in Computational and Systems Biology and a minor in Data Science Engineering.
He spent 3 years at UCLA as a biomedical informatics research intern under Dr. Peipei Ping. During his time, he worked on publications improving general large language models with retrieval augmented generation, specifically to answer cardiovascular medicine domain-related questions. He also used deep learning techniques to define novel classifications for proteins. Formerly, Joseph was a data science intern at Thermo Fisher Scientific where he worked on analyzing ion semiconductor sequencing performance.
Outside of research and data science, Joseph was a committee president for UCLA’s Association for Computing Machinery chapter. He directed several programs that brought computer science training to Title I K-12 schools in the greater Los Angeles area.
Joseph enjoys touring national parks and taking hikes (Bryce Canyon pictured).
