Firasat has nearly 20 years of experience with representing clients across a variety of intellectual property matters.
Firasat has extensive patent prosecution and patent portfolio management experience. He has held both in-house and outside counsel roles and advised clients on the development of their intellectual property strategies, including growing their portfolio of IP assets. He routinely provides strategic direction to senior management regarding intellectual property as it pertains to making business decisions, product design, and licensing. He has also developed and managed patent programs, formed and chaired patent committees, and managed worldwide intellectual property issues for large corporations. He has worked with diverse technologies in the electrical, mechanical, and software arts.
Firasat also has extensive patent litigation experience. He has managed and worked on all aspects of patent litigations from discovery to trial, including taking and defending depositions, and managing cases on a day-to-day basis. In addition to the U.S. federal courts, Firasat has worked on several International Trade Commission (ITC) Section §337 patent litigations, including corresponding with opposing counsel, Administrative Law Judges, and O.U.I.I. staff and attending hearings.
Firasat has taught seminars and courses on various IP topics, including at the Indian Institute of Technology “I.I.T.”, U.C. Berkley’s School of Law, Motorola Inc., Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, India, and Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India. He has also led several fireside chats with accomplished CEOs, Founders, and entrepreneurs and provided valuable technology, legal, and entrepreneurial insights.
