OVERVIEW
Austin T. McDowell, Ph.D, is a physicist who joined Haley Guiiano in 2025 as a Technical Advisor. Austin received his Ph.D from New York University, where he studied short gamma-ray bursts: a unique astrophysical explosion produced by the merger of two neutron stars. These explosions are crucibles for precious metals and have produced most of the gold, silver, and platinum seen in the universe today. Austin utilized high-resolution hydrodynamic simulations and Bayesian statistics to infer properties of observed short gamma-ray bursts. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, cycling, and travelling.
