OVERVIEW
Ava Halkola joined HG Law in 2026 after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with distinction and a minor in Mathematics from San Diego State University. Her experience spans the semiconductor lithography industry to extraterrestrial geotechnical projects.
During her time at SDSU, Ava took elective courses in biomedical instrumentation and neuromorphic computing, completing projects that replicated various neuron models through circuitry design. She also completed an internship at ASML on the manufacturing team. Her project focused on contamination mitigation methods for the nozzle component of the EUV machine. Separately, Ava conducted research in a Geotechnical Civil Engineering Lab on space agriculture and in-situ resource utilization. Ultimately, she developed her own research objective and presented a poster titled “Electrokinetic Fluid Transport in Lunar and Martian Regolith: A Multi-Planetary Solid-State Mechanism for In-Situ Resource Utilization and Surface Operations” at the Lunar Surface Innovation Consortium (LSIC).
Her passion across diverse areas of engineering led her to patent law, where she looks forward to helping inventors protect their work. Outside of the office, Ava enjoys floral arranging, running, and a good cold brew.
