Kiruthika joined Haley Guiliano in 2021 as a Technical advisor in the Life sciences group.
Before joining the firm, Kiruthika worked in small molecule drug discovery for more than three years. She was a senior scientist at Venenum Biodesign, where her expertise in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry were utilized in early stages of drug discovery to identify hits, interpret structure-activity relationship, address ADME challenges for lead generation and optimization by designing and constructing scaffolds against novel drug targets in immuno-oncology, infectious diseases and metabolic disorders.
Prior to joining Venenum, Kiruthika graduated with a Ph.D in organic chemistry from the University of Madras. Her research was focused on methodology development for the construction of heterocycles using transition metal catalysis and multi-component reactions involving alkynes. She utilized the less-exploited copper catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of ynamides, to develop interesting heterocyclic scaffolds which finds extensive applications in medicinal chemistry and material science in an inter-intra molecular one pot fashion. She further used multi-component reactions for the creation of spirocycles involving electron deficient alkynes which are otherwise complex to synthesize.
Kiruthika did her Masters in organic chemistry at University of madras and her research was to construct three generations of thiophene-Binol based dendrimers which has attracted the attention of chemists due to their unique chiro-optical and medicinal properties.
